The Bars®  Therapy

Access Consciousness The Bars®  Therapy at LifeShine offers a gentle, non-invasive session designed to help quiet the mental chatter and emotional load carried in the body. The Bars involve 32 specific points on the head where thoughts, beliefs, emotions and recurring patterns are thought to accumulate. During a session, a practitioner lightly holds these points, creating a calming experience that invites the mind and body into a state of ease, peace and openness.

When life’s stressors accumulate, whether through emotional overwhelm, repetitive thinking, or unprocessed beliefs, patterns can feel stuck and heavy. A session supports the nervous system in letting go of that internal clutter. Many clients describe a sense of stillness, a reduced mental “noise,” and a deeper sense of ease within the body and mind. Some notice increased clarity, a lighter emotional presence and a renewed ability to respond rather than react.

At LifeShine, each Bars session begins with a conversation about where you are currently, what patterns you feel ready to release, and how we might tailor your experience to your needs. Sessions typically last between 60 and 90 minutes and are offered in a calm, supportive environment. For deeper or longer-term releases, a series of sessions may be recommended so your internal rhythms can adjust gradually and coherently.

Clients most often turn to Access Bars when they are seeking relief from persistent mental tension, stress or emotional overwhelm, wanting space for clarity, peace and renewed perspective. Many people describe feeling lighter in their thinking, calmer in their bodies, and more present and grounded in their daily lives after a session. In the context of our broader wellness programmes, Bars therapy aligns with practices that support emotional and cognitive balance, including breath work, mindful movement, and restorative rest.

Access Consciousness The Bars®  Therapy at LifeShine is offered with the same respect, safety and care that defines all our therapies. We honour your pace, your history and your unique rhythm, guiding you step-by-step toward greater ease and awareness.

What the science says

Research into Access Bars® consciousness therapy is emerging and early studies suggest it may positively influence emotional well-being, brainwave patterns and nervous system regulation. While this field is still developing, current evidence provides an initial foundation for understanding how a Bars session might support relaxation, decreased emotional intensity and mental clarity. Clients’ experiences of greater calm, reduced stress and improved mental balance are consistent with these findings.

Clinical Effects on Anxiety, Depression and Brain Coherence (2017)

A pilot study published in the Journal of Energy Psychology: Theory, Research and Treatment explored the effects of a single 90 minute Access Bars session on participants with anxiety and depression symptoms. Using standardised questionnaires and quantitative electroencephalogram (QEEG) brain mapping, researchers found that anxiety symptoms reduced on average by 84.7 percent, while depression scores reduced by 82.7 percent after the session. Brainwave measurements showed a rise in coherence between brain regions, which is associated with improved neural communication and emotional regulation.

Integrative and Complementary Practices: access bars to consciousness as a health care strategy (2020)

A 2020 bibliographic review framed Bars as a supportive health strategy, drawing on practitioner-reported observations rather than clinical trials. The review highlights benefits including emotional balance, deep relaxation, mental clarity, and reduced stress, situating Bars within holistic frameworks that promote overall wellbeing. While evidence remains descriptive, Bars is increasingly used by wellness practitioners as a gentle tool to support cognitive ease, calm the nervous system, and foster a sense of inner harmony.
